Using cellphones while driving should be legal.

Cellphones are everywhere and have become a necessity these days. But there is an issue talking about banning cell phones to use with hand-free device while driving. Some people who support banning cellphone use while driving they believe that we need to completely stop the use of devices because they can be distracting to drivers. They think the involvement of government restrictions will make the roads safer. However, in my opinion I believe using cellphones while driving should be legal because they can increase our safety, provide entertainment, and offer personal freedom.

Although some people believe that using phone while driving has many risks such as accidents, and distracting the drivers I know that too much cellphone use while driving has caused accidents by distracts the drivers, but there are also other things that distract the driver other than just talking on the phone. Drinking and eating has caused more accidents than phone use while driving .Also, there are new technologies that have been added to new vehicles such as accessing the internet, DVD players that will distract drivers. So, there are other activities that can cause more accidents than just talking on the phone.

I am against this legislation; in some states, including California, Virginia and Indiana, drivers under the age of 18 are not permitted to use a cell phone while driving, even if a hands-free system is available. These "All Cell Phone Bans" usually require the use of a hands-free device for adult drivers. So, I do not see how making it illegal will help. I find that holding a conversation on a cell phone while driving is no more distracting or different than being engaged with a passenger or kids in the back seat, or eating.” To legally prohibit cell phones being used while operating a vehicle infringes on our personal rights as a motorists. Do we have to place a law on all "unacceptable" behaviors? People still drink and drive, smoke, etc... even though it's illegal”. Also I oppose the idea that using the cellphone while driving distracts the driver because the technology is already moving in the cars, so there are other activities which can distract the driver. So, using cell phones is not more distracting than talking with someone in the car .There are many distractions, such as eating, drinking, Picking up Something that fell, or other distractions by equipment such as the GPS, reading a map, changing the radio station or CD track; and some that not controllable, such as Passengers, dealing with kids, so the government can’t outlaw everything.

Using cellphones while driving can be helpful in cases of emergency and safety. There are many reasons why people would need to use their cell phones while driving. For example, if someone finds themself in a situation where he/she feels threatened such as if someone who taking drugs or drinking is chasing you in car you might you have to call the police to save her/his life. Also if there is an emergency, such as someone was sent to the hospital, it would be nice to be able to receive that information, even if they are driving.

Another advantage is if the driver finding himself in the wrong way pulling over to get directions might not be good idea, so their cellphones is only their option .Another benefit is you get help such as when driver see a crime being committed and he/she needs to call law enforcement . Also driver can report accidents and alert police and firefighters to problems that need to be addressed. So it is necessary to use a cell phone while driving to save our lives and help other.

Using cellphones while driving has a benefit in entertainment, Some people travel by car for a long time 18-20 hours, so they feel tired, bored and sleepy so that will cause more accidents and is extremely dangerous .Many accidents are caused by driving fatigue and police officers even report pulling over drivers and finding out they are just sleepy. However, if drivers use the cellphone to call someone or listen to music, that will help to change the atmosphere, activate the drivers brain and keep fatigue and sleep away. So, we can use cellphones to entertain and keep away the fatigue and asleep.

Cellphone use while driving is a personal right of motorists. As in the article “A Ban on cellphone use is overkill “the author Lynn-Nore writes that “cellphones are private property like cars and the owners should be allowed to use their property as they please.” So we don’t want restriction of personal freedom. In the U.S, many years ago when drivers using cell phone while driving the police officers couldn’t stop them and give them a ticket and it also is difficult to restrictions all drivers enforce because it’s difficult to officers readily see whether a driver is using a phone.

In conclusion, allow using a cellphone with a hands- free device while driving is important because it has many benefits to save our lives and help others in emergency. In addition entertainment and personality freedom are important, so we should allow using cellphone with hand- free device while driving.
